Setting Restock Options for Quick Exchanges

Restock Options control how Exchange It handles returned inventory from the original order. Use this group when you want returns to restock to a specific location or when a specialized integration requires a different restock behavior.

Where to find it

Go to Settings > Quick Exchanges > Original Order > Restock Options.

Prerequisites

To choose a default location, you must first turn on "Set a default restock location." The location dropdown stays disabled until that setting is enabled and your store's restock locations have loaded successfully. If restock locations fail to load, an error banner appears offering a page refresh.

Set it up

1. Set a default restock location — When enabled, a default location is used when restocking returned inventory, and the restock location dropdown becomes selectable. This is off by default.
2. Restock location (default) — Select the location used when restocking inventory from the original order. The dropdown is populated from your store's locations. It is empty by default and remains disabled until "Set a default restock location" is enabled and locations have loaded.
3. Use custom restock method — Enables a custom restock method for handling returned inventory. This is off by default. Only use this setting if you have talked to Customer Service or are using ERP software, since it changes the default restock behavior for specialized integrations.

How these settings work together

Enabling "Set a default restock location" is what makes the "Restock location (default)" dropdown selectable — among other conditions, including that your store's restock locations have loaded successfully. When "Set a default restock location" is off (or locations could not be loaded), the dropdown stays disabled.

What changes when you turn this on

Each setting is saved to your shop's app settings. When "Set a default restock location" is enabled and a location is chosen, that location value persists as the default used when restocking inventory from the original order. Turning on "Use custom restock method" persists that choice so the app applies your custom restock behavior for returned inventory instead of the default. These values are read back from your saved app settings so your configuration is applied on future exchanges.
