Default Resolution Option
The Default Resolution Option in Exchange It is a return outcome that you choose to be pre-selected for customers when they open the Return Request page. In other words, one of the return methods (like an exchange or refund) will already be chosen for the customer by default. As ExchangeIt’s documentation explains, you simply “check ‘Set a default resolution option’ and choose which method should be selected by default". When enabled, this option is automatically pre-checked on the portal (customers can still change it if they want). By setting a default, you ensure that the most common resolution (for example, “Exchange for the same item”) appears instantly on the return form, saving the customer from having to pick it each time.
How to Set the Default Resolution Option
To enable a default resolution in your store, follow these steps:
Open the Exchange It app in Shopify. In the app’s sidebar, go to Settings → Portal. Scroll to the Return Request Page options.
Locate “Default Resolution Option.” In that section you’ll see the Set a default resolution option checkbox (as shown above).
Enable and choose your default. Check the Set a default resolution option boxhelp.exchangeit.io. Then click the dropdown menu next to it and select the desired default resolution (in the screenshot, it’s set to “Exchange for the same item”).
Save your changes. Once you save your settings, the chosen resolution will be pre-selected on the return form for customers by default.
