Configuring Exchange Order Details for Quick Exchanges

Updated Sep 29, 2026

This settings group controls how the exchange order the app creates is priced and which notifications the customer receives, plus an option to duplicate the original order's items. Use it when you want to fine-tune the exchange order that Exchange It generates for each approved exchange.

Where to find it

Go to Settings > Quick Exchanges > Exchange Order > Exchange Order Details.

Prerequisites

To use the New "from:" email address field, you must first turn on Custom sender email address for the exchange order invoice — the field stays disabled until that checkbox is enabled. The custom address you enter must be a store or staff email account (added under Users & Permissions in your Shopify Settings), or the invoice will fail to send.

Set it up

  1. Show Duplicate Exchange Order Button — Shows a button that automatically adds the original order's items to the exchange order. Per the in-app helper text, when you use it you will not be able to add more items to the duplicated section. Default: off.
  2. Send an order confirmation email to the customer — When enabled, the customer receives a Shopify order confirmation email when the exchange order is created. When off, no confirmation email is sent. Default: on.
  3. Send a shipping confirmation email to the customer — Controls whether a shipping confirmation email is sent to the customer for the exchange order. Default: off.
  4. Custom sender email address for the exchange order invoice — When enabled, the exchange order invoice is sent from a custom "from:" address instead of the default, and it unlocks the sender field below. Default: off.
  5. New "from:" email address — The custom sender ("from:") address used for the exchange order invoice. This field is disabled unless the checkbox above is enabled, and the value must be a store or staff email account or the invoice will fail to send. Default: empty.
  6. Pricing for the Exchange Order — Determines how the exchange order is priced. Choose either a custom discount equal to the total order amount, or set all individual product prices to zero. Default: a custom discount equal to the total order amount (totalCustomDiscount).
  7. Show the tax for exchange order products — Calculates product tax for the exchange order and gives the option to include it in the total exchange order amount. Per the helper text, this setting is primarily for USA sales taxes. When off, tax is not surfaced for exchange order products. Default: off.

How these settings work together

Enabling Custom sender email address for the exchange order invoice unlocks the New "from:" email address field. Until the checkbox is on, the address field remains disabled and cannot be edited.

What changes when you turn this on

When both the custom sender checkbox is enabled and a custom address is entered, the app sends the exchange order invoice through Shopify's orderInvoiceSend mutation using your entered address as the from: value. If either the checkbox is off or the field is empty, that custom from: address is not applied. The order confirmation and shipping confirmation toggles determine whether the customer receives those respective emails when the exchange order is created. Your Pricing for the Exchange Order choice controls whether the exchange is zeroed out via a single order-level discount or by zeroing each line item's price.

All of these values are saved to your shop's app settings and read back when the exchange order is created.
