Customizing Returns Tracker Detail Headers

Updated Sep 30, 2026

Use this group to control the text of every header and message inside the Returns Tracker details view — the screen a customer sees when they check the status of their return. The wording changes automatically as a request moves through requested, approved, and resolved states, and each heading here is editable per language.

Where to find it

Returns Portal > Customize Portal > Returns Tracker — Details

Prerequisites

Editing the headers for your primary language is available on any plan. To edit the second-language versions of these headers, select the second language in the language selector; per-language editing of the second-language fields requires the Advanced plan.

Use the Preview status selector on the Customize Portal tab to switch between requested, approved, and resolved states so you can see which header appears in each state.

Set it up

Each field below is a plain text input. Type your wording and it is saved to that field for the currently selected language.

  1. Requested Return Items Header — The header shown above the list of requested return items while the return is still in the Requested state (before approval). Default: Return Details.
  2. Approved Items Text — The header shown above the items group once the request reaches an approved-or-later state; it replaces the requested-items header at that point. Default: Approved Items.
  3. Declined Items Text — The header for the group of declined items, shown once the request is approved or later. Default: Declined Items.
  4. Requested Exchange Items Header — The header for the requested exchange items section while the return is not yet resolved. Default: Requested Exchange Items.
  5. Exchange Placed Header — The header used for the exchange summary section once the request is Resolved; it replaces the requested-exchange-items header at that point. Default: Exchange Summary.
  6. Requested Exchange Product Missing Text — The message shown in the item details when a requested exchange product is no longer available. Default: Product not found, please contact us.
  7. Return Note Header — The label for the customer's return note within the item details. Default: Return Note.

To translate these for a second portal language, select that language in the language selector and re-enter each field. The second-language defaults ship pre-filled with placeholders such as (Translate) Return Details, (Translate) Approved Items, and (Translate) Exchange Summary so you can see which fields still need translating.

What changes when you turn this on

Each input writes to the corresponding custom text field for the selected language and persists on your shop's settings. In the Returns Tracker details preview, the header shown depends on the request's state: the Requested Return Items Header is used in the Requested state, the Approved Items Text replaces it once the request is approved or later, the Declined Items group appears in that same approved-or-later state, and the Requested Exchange Items Header is swapped for the Exchange Placed Header once the request is Resolved. If a value is left blank, the tracker falls back to its built-in default wording for that heading.

Plan requirements

The primary-language headers can be edited on any plan. The second-language versions of every field in this group (Requested Return Items Header, Approved Items Text, Declined Items Text, Requested Exchange Items Header, Exchange Placed Header, Requested Exchange Product Missing Text, and Return Note Header) require the Advanced plan.
