Customizing the Order Search Page in Your Returns Portal

Updated Sep 30, 2026

The Order Search Page is the first screen customers see when they open your returns portal to look up an order. Use this settings group to control the wording of the heading, the input placeholders, the lookup button, an optional policy link, and the button colors — everything updates in the live search page preview as you type.

Where to find it

Go to Returns Portal > Customize Portal > Order Search Page.

Set it up

Edit each field and watch the Order Search Page preview update. The values below are what the portal falls back to if you leave a field blank.

  1. Heading — the main heading shown at the top of the search page. Default: Returns & Exchanges. This text also acts as a fallback for the browser tab/page title when a dedicated Page Title isn't set.
  2. Subheading — the supporting line shown under the heading. Default: Enter your order details below to create a return request.
  3. Order Number input placeholder — the hint text inside the order number field. Default: Order Number.
  4. Email input placeholder — the hint text inside the email/phone field where customers identify their order. Default: Email or phone number.
  5. Button text — the label on the main lookup button. Default: FIND ORDER.
  6. Button helper text — the line shown beneath the button. Default: We will aim to handle your return request as quickly as possible.
  7. Add a link below the Button helper text — a checkbox that displays an optional link under the helper text. Default: off. When it is checked, the URL and Link Text fields below become editable; while it is off, those fields stay disabled.
    • Add a link below the Button helper text (URL field) — the destination for the optional link. Default: empty. Only working URLs are allowed.
    • Link Text — the clickable label for that link. Default: Returns Policy.
  8. Button background color — the background color of the primary button. Default: #000000 (the field shows a #000 placeholder).
  9. Button text color — the text color of the primary button. Default: #ffffff (the field shows a #fff placeholder).

What changes when you turn this on

Each field is bound directly to your saved portal settings, so the text and colors you enter here are what render on the customer-facing order search page and its preview. If you leave a text field empty, the portal uses its built-in fallback (for example, the button falls back to a default label and the placeholders fall back to their defaults) rather than showing a blank. Checking Add a link below the Button helper text unlocks the URL and Link Text fields and surfaces the link beneath the helper text on the page.

Plan requirements

The base (primary-language) fields above are available on all plans. Second-language versions of these same fields — the translated Heading, Subheading, placeholders, button text, helper text, and link — apply only when the portal's second language is active, which requires the advanced plan. Select the second language in the Language Selector to edit those translated values.
