Returns Portal Setup

Customizing the Signed-In Customer Order List Text

Updated Sep 30, 2026

When a customer is logged into your store, the returns portal shows a list of their recent orders instead of the order search form. This settings group lets you rewrite every piece of text on that order list — the greeting, subtitle, search box, and the buttons for starting or resuming a return.

Where to find it

Go to Returns Portal > Customize Portal > Signed-In Customer: Order List.

Set it up

Each field is a text box with a live portal preview alongside it that updates as you type. Edit any of the following:

  1. Start Return Button Text — the button a signed-in customer clicks on each order to begin a return or exchange. Default: Return or Exchange.
  2. Show More Button Text — the button that loads additional orders in the list. Default: Show more orders.
  3. Search Placeholder — the placeholder in the search box that filters the list by order number or product name. Default: Search by order # or product name.
  4. Welcome Text — the greeting shown before the customer's first name. Default: Welcome back.
  5. Fallback Heading — the heading used when the customer's name is not available (shown instead of the personalized greeting). Default: Your Orders.
  6. Subtitle — the subtitle beneath the welcome heading. Default: Select an order below to start a return..
  7. Return In Progress Button Text — the text shown on an order when a return is already in progress for it. Default: Return in progress →.
  8. Can't Find Order Link Text — the link prompting customers to look up an order by number when it isn't in their list. Default: Can't find your order? Look up by order number.
  9. Back to Orders Link Text — the link that returns the customer to the order list from a lookup view. Default: ← Back to orders.

Leaving a field blank falls back to its default value.

What changes when you turn this on

Each field writes its value to your shop's returns portal settings (the customText group). The signed-in order list renders the stored value for each element; if a value is empty, the portal uses the built-in default. The Welcome Text greeting appears before the customer's first name, and when that name is unavailable the Fallback Heading is shown in its place instead.

Plan requirements

The base fields above are edited in your primary language. To edit these same fields for a second language (stored separately as customTextTwo), you need the Advanced plan. The second-language versions default to placeholder text such as (Translate) Return or Exchange and (Translate) Welcome back until you translate them.
