Send Notification Emails From Your Own Domain

Updated Sep 29, 2026

Use this setting to send return and exchange notification emails from an address on your own business domain instead of the default Exchange It address. Set it up when you want customers to see emails coming from your brand.

Where to find it

Go to Settings > Custom Domain > Custom Email Domain.

Prerequisites

This is an Advanced plan feature. On lower plans the section is gated behind an upgrade banner, so you must be on the Advanced plan to configure it.

You also need access to your domain's DNS settings, because authenticating generates DNS records you must add to your domain to complete verification.

Set it up

  1. Enter your Sender Email Address. This is the email address that notification emails are sent from once the custom domain is authenticated and verified. It must be an address on your business domain (not Gmail, Yahoo, or other free providers). By default this is empty.
  2. Save/authenticate the address. Authenticating generates DNS records for your domain.
  3. Add the generated DNS records to your domain, then complete verification.

What changes when you turn this on

When you submit the address, the app validates that it is a properly formatted email and that its domain is not a blocked (free/consumer) domain such as Gmail or Yahoo. If it passes, the address is saved to your shop settings.

Until verification completes, emails continue to be sent from no-reply@exchangeit.io. Once your domain is verified and active, the app confirms your domain is active and notification emails are sent from your configured sender address. If you reset the configuration, the sender email is cleared.

Plan requirements

The Sender Email Address setting requires the Advanced plan.
