Tagging the Original Order After a Quick Exchange

Use this group to have Exchange It automatically apply a tag to the original order whenever a quick exchange is handled, which makes it easy to filter and identify exchanged orders in Shopify. You can control the exact tag text, including a dynamic order-name variable.

Where to find it

Go to Settings > Quick Exchanges > Original Order > Original Order Tag.

Prerequisites

The tag text field only becomes editable once tagging is turned on. Enable Add a tag to the original order first, then set the tag value in Tag to be added to the original order.

Set it up

1. Turn on Add a tag to the original order. This enables order tagging and unlocks the tag text field. It is off by default.
2. In Tag to be added to the original order, enter the tag(s) you want applied. This is the tag text that gets added to the original order. The default value is Exchange_created_{order_name}.
   • The {order_name} variable points to the exchange order if one is created; otherwise it points to the original order number.
   • Use a comma to add multiple tags, for example exchange,return,complete.
   • Tag length and special characters are validated, so keep tags short and avoid special characters.

How these settings work together

Turning on Add a tag to the original order enables the Tag to be added to the original order field. While tagging is off, the tag text field stays disabled and cannot be edited.

What changes when you turn this on

When enabled, the setting persists to your shop configuration and the tag text field becomes editable so you can define what tag is written. When a quick exchange is processed, the tag(s) from Tag to be added to the original order are added to the original order, with the {order_name} variable resolved to the exchange order (if one was created) or to the original order number.
