Setting a Refund Fee (Restocking Fee) on Refunds

Use this group to deduct a restocking fee from refunds, either as a flat currency amount or as a percentage of the refunded value. Choose percentage when you need exact deductions.

Where to find it

Go to Settings > Exchange Requests > Exchange Options.

Prerequisites

Both fee fields are disabled until you turn on "Deduct a return fee from refunds." Enable that option first so you can enter a value.

Set it up

1. Refund Fee flat amount — the flat currency amount deducted from a refund when the fee type is set to flat. The field shows your store's currency prefix and accepts values of 0 or more. Default is 0.
2. Refund Fee percentage — the percentage deducted from a refund when the fee type is set to percentage. It is shown with a % suffix and is constrained between 0 and 100. Default is 0.

Enter a value in whichever field matches your chosen fee type. Leaving the value at 0 means no fee is deducted.

What changes when you turn this on

The value you enter is saved to your shop settings and used to calculate the amount deducted from refunds. When the fee type is percentage, the deduction is applied as a percentage of the refunded amount; when it is flat, the fixed currency amount is subtracted.

Note on rounding: flat fees may differ by a few cents on Shopify orders because of per-item rounding. If you need an exact deduction, use the percentage field instead of the flat amount.
